You might not solve all your love problems when you visit Hacienda Del Mar Los Cabos Resort, but it’ll be a great start. The all-inclusive luxury resort is watched over by San Antonio de Padua – the upside-down saint of love. As families check in for their family vacation, they are greeted by the wooden statue in the lobby.

The lovelorn or loveless can light a candle to ask the saint to assist in their crusade of the heart. It is this authentic touch that guests will feel threaded throughout this all-inclusive Mexican resort, where they will feel spoiled by the friendly staff and enriched by culture as they enjoy their family trip.

Where is Hacienda del Mar?
Set in the middle of the corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, at the southernmost tip of the Baja California Sur peninsula, the Hacienda del Mar, a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel, borrows its colors from the hues of the earth and the blues of the Sea of Cortez. The hotel takes everything else from the country’s history. This prime location offers guests the best of both worlds with its beachside location providing easy access to the stunning views that make Los Cabos famous.

When Is The Best Time To Go To Los Cabos?
The best time to visit Los Cabos is from November to April, when the weather is warm, averaging around 79°F, and the area comes alive with activities. This season offers clear skies, minimal rain, and comfortable temperatures ranging between 77-80°F Plus if you go after or before the holidays, then hotel and airfare is more affordable.
Also, during this time, humpback and gray whales typically spend the first three months of the year off the coast of Cabo, so if whale watching is on your dream vacation list, that’s the time to visit.

Once You Arrive…
There’s really no reason to leave Hacienda del Mar in Los Cabos once a family arrives. When we stayed there with a group of friends, the five outdoor pools, 11 restaurants and bars, spa, 24-hour fitness center, and kids’ club made the short flight from Los Angeles an easy and relaxing long weekend where the focus was pampering ourselves. The lush gardens surrounding the property create a serene atmosphere, while the air-conditioned rooms provide comfort after days spent exploring. Here’s what we enjoyed most about this absolutely amazing stay at this family-friendly resort.

The Beach
Everyone wants to go to the beach on their beach vacation, but most beaches in the Cabo area aren’t swimmable. Either they’re set on high cliffs without direct ocean access, or the current in front of the property is too strong to be considered safe.
Hacienda del Mar has one of the few swimmable beaches in Cabo, just a few minutes’ walk from any room. We enjoyed walking on the soft sand and dipping our feet into the water of this clean hotel’s pristine beachfront. For those thinking about love, this is a great place to do it, with its stunning view of the endless horizon.

The Restaurants and Bars
The 10 restaurants at Hacienda del Mar span from poolside bar casual to white tablecloth fancy. If love with your person is alluding you, the food at Hacienda del Mar will fill that void – at least for a while.
Pithayas
This is how it all started. In 1995, this steak and seafood restaurant opened with a breathtaking view of the ocean under a straw palapa, boasting a formal table setting. This quickly became one of Los Cabos’s favorite restaurants. Building on that excitement, the hotel opened around it in 2000.
Today, local and imported ingredients come together to bring an unforgettable dining experience for visitors and guests of the Cabo San Lucas hotel. We enjoyed craft cocktails before our appetizers, just as the sun slowly sank in a puddle of salmon and fire. As our lobster and perfectly seared steaks arrived, we switched to wines and remembered our welcome dinner in the wine cellar just beneath where we sat.

Cava de Santiago
If love is the reason for your trip, and planning a surprise engagement is the goal, then the wine cave beneath Pithayas is the perfect location. Separated by growing regions, the cave has one table surrounded by four sections of wines from the New World and the Old. Enjoy a private dinner, move into a new phase of life, then take a walk along the ocean to sweep the evening into the most pleasant of memories.
We enjoyed our welcome dinner in Cava de Santiago with an array of courses presented with the most attentive service. The wine cave is available for VIP dinners and special occasions.

Tomates Restaurant
Mornings can start at Tomates (aka tomatoes restaurant) with a delicious breakfast buffet at a table on their veranda overlooking the glimmering sea. This generously appointed restaurant is only open mornings until 11 am.

So many choices. ©Rina Nehdar
Trattoria Pomodoro
At night, Tomates switches over to Italian restaurant, Trattoria Pomodoro, with ocean views over pasta and pizzas.
De Cortez Grill House
The ocean views don’t quit in this award-winning five-star restaurant. Enjoy rekindling a romance or let the sparks fly over grilled steaks and fish. Private events can continue until 1 am in this heavenly location.

Tahona Taqueria
Guests craving tacos can sample one of 12 on the menu at Tahona Taqueria. Perfect for late-night snacks or a break from your group – yes, I enjoyed a few quiet moments here with my phone, laptop, and my new favorite margarita – this taco restaurant creates an environment that can be mellow as well as festive.

Sirenas
Every time I was in a hurry or wanted to grab a quick bite, this is where I went. Not because it’s a last choice but because it’s a convenient choice, right by the infinity pool and on the way to everything it seems. There’s a great selection of casual food, it overlooks the ocean, and the hotel’s friendly staff provided the most attentive service anytime I walked near the entrance, beckoning me inside. What can I say, I am easily tempted.

La Terraza Del Santo
This is another place I ended up anytime I wanted a snack later in the day. You might say I did a lot of eating on this trip and you wouldn’t be wrong. They serve tapas, sushi, and a yummy aqua chili, so how could I not stop and savor this offering?
This open-air terrace is a great place for board games and that beach read you’ve been meaning to enjoy over a cocktail. Guilty.

Other Restaurants and Bars
Poolside pizza and burgers are on order at swim-up bar and restaurant, Delfines. No need to dress for the occasion, bathing suits and eating in the pool or on lounge chairs is the expectation.

The best place to swim. ©Rina Nehdar
Tortugas is another beachy option, but with sushi and seafood also available. Las Fuentes is one more poolside option located in the kids’ area, offering what you’d expect a family restaurant to serve, plus drinks. There is a tequila bar called Bar Santo Al Revés serving over 100 different types of Mexico’s favorite drink (that I love too!) There is a high-energy Sports Bar telecasting games from around the world. No resort is complete without a dedicated coffee bar, and El Molino Cafe has a display of pastries, snacks, and an array of coffees made to order. And don’t forget about that midnight craving or lazy afternoon perfect for room service!

A convenient fix. ©Rina Nehdar
The Rooms
There are 248 deluxe rooms and 28 suites at Hacienda del Mar. Some suites have three or four bedrooms and options include lush garden views, partial, and full ocean views. Many rooms feature double beds perfect for families, while others come with hot tubs on the private terrace.
Club Rooms are adjacent to the golf course. There are also two Presidential Suites. Some of the property is reserved for guests who’ve stayed at the Hacienda del Mar so often that they’ve become member owners of their family vacations. Those guests have their own concierge and lobby. There is special programming just for them.

A room with the perfect view.
My room looked over a courtyard and the sapphire ocean. The bathroom had hand-painted double sinks and a walk-in rain shower. The king-sized bed reminded me what it felt like to sleep without being woken up by kids or a husband. Wink wink.

Cactus Spa
Is a resort even a resort without a spa? The Cactus Spa features a sauna and steam room for guests to enjoy before their signature Mayan-inspired treatments. My relaxing massage was the Signature Cactus that involved the detoxifying effects of tequila, not the drinking kind. My masseuse brought me into a whole other world of relaxation. A hot tub can further that melting process.

Events At Hacienda Del Mar
The resort regularly hosts weddings, and they’ll accommodate any reasonable requests for personalization. A chapel on the property can accommodate up to 80 guests. They only allow one wedding per day. The door of the Chapel is the original door of Mexico’s first mission in Loreto.

The courtyard beneath my room called La Palzuela is often used for ceremonies and other events. It can accommodate 230 people comfortably. The restaurants and green gardens are also great locations and all have ocean views. There is also a convention center that can accommodate up to 800 people.

Kids’ Club
Programming at the kids’ club is an extension of the resort’s mission, to share about Mexican culture and appreciation of the environment. In this vein, Activities Manager, Richard Espinosa creates activities a couple times a day for kids who are between the ages of 5-12. Arts, crafts, games, and the mini water park are part of the programming. Kids younger than five are able to visit but they must bring their adult. Babysitting services are also available.
