Our family loves planning vacations. Often, this happens months in advance. What we can never predict that far ahead, though, is the weather. BUT, at these five hotels with indoor waterparks, a little rain will never stop vacation fun. Zip down water slides, splash around in the wave pool, or lounge in the lazy river, regardless of what’s happening outside!

Great Wolf Lodge – Garden Grove, CA

Great Wolf Lodge in the Anaheim area is one of our favorite indoor water park resorts for California families. They also have nearly two dozen locations across the United States and a park in Canada! Choose from themed rooms (like the Wolf’s Den with cave-style accommodations!) or standard suites.

Even though Great Wolf Lodge isn’t all-inclusive, they have tons of add-on packages to save guests money on things like dining and entertainment. Kids of all ages will love the waterpark with relaxing attractions, including the interactive, 4-story Fort Mackenzie water playground and Crooked Creek lazy river, as well as more exhilarating options, including water roller coasters like HydroPlunge, Wolf Tail body slide, and Coyote Cannon (with a 40-foot drop!). Guests also have unlimited access to plenty of dry activities, like MagiQuest (a scavenger hunt using personalized wands and magic!), nightly storytime, an arcade, mini-golf, and a bowling alley. Great Wolf Lodge also caters to grownups with an adults-only hot tub and wine-down service.

Younger kids will love burning energy at Atlantis Play Center and exploring the hands-on exhibits at Pretend City Children’s Museum. Other attractions in the area include the Arboretum and Botanical Garden, Mission San Juan Capistrano Museum, and numerous parks and hiking trails.

Wilderness Resort – Wisconsin Dells, WI

Wisconsin Dells Wilderness Resort is one of the best indoor waterpark hotels to fit a wide range of budgets and accommodations. Sitting on 600 wooded acres, guests can stay in a hotel room, villa, condo, or cabin.

Wilderness Resorts stands out because of its incredible four indoor and four outdoor waterparks. Enjoy body slides and a hurricane tunnel at Klondike Kavern, family bumper boats and rafts at Wild West, Cubby’s Cove indoor waterpark for kids, the largest wave pool, and a swim-up bar at Wild WaterDome. And, there are complimentary shuttles and water taxis to take you between each indoor and outdoor water park.

Dry attractions include three large arcades, an 18-hole golf course, horse-drawn wagon rides, and ziplining. We recommend upgrading to the FunPass for dry activities, which comes with access to Go-Karts, Mini Golf, the Ropes Course, Laser Tag, and arcade credits!

Fallsview Indoor Waterpark – Ontario, Canada

In 2020, Fallsview Indoor Waterpark was named the sixth largest indoor water park anywhere in the world, with an astonishing size of 125,000 square feet. There is a huge water playground for kids with buckets dumping 1,000 gallons of water at a time. Guests can also speed down 6-story tall waterslides, splash in the full-size wave pool, participate in games like volleyball in the activity pool, or have dry fun at Adventure City or the 4D movie theater.  During the warmer months, enjoy the sundeck, outdoor pool, plunge bowl, and two giant adults-only jacuzzis.

Although this waterpark doesn’t have a hotel attached to it, the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel, the Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls, and the Skyline Hotel & Waterpark all have direct indoor connections to the waterpark, and each offers waterpark special hotel packages.

Zehnder’s Splash Village & Resort – Frankenmuth, MI

Zehnder’s accommodations don’t scream luxury, but it is a great place for a weekend family getaway. Each room has modern amenities and comes with 4-8 complimentary water park passes. Guests can also use the complimentary shuttle to visit the spa, The Fortress Golf Course, and restaurants at its sister resort. The onsite restaurants are tasty, with options for kids, including mocktails! There are also dessert and adult cocktail menus that change monthly!

Zehnder’s Splash Village is made up of two separate waterparks and has a relaxed vibe. We love that it has two lazy rivers – one super chill and the other faster-paced! The whole family will enjoy the zero-entry pool, hot tub, lazy river, and family tube water slides in the original water park.
